I've even compared it to Amazon Glacier for long-term storage and B2 is still much cheaper, particularly if you ever need a restore, where Amazon's $.09 per GB is a killer. Rclone itself can be cranky but b2 itself has been very reliable. My home internet is only 10Mbit/sec up which really limits how fast things get synced, but fortunately my daily change rate is not high. Using rclone is very easy and I presently have around 3TB sitting on B2. I eventually went with B2 with rclone driving the sync. Each VM is in a separate folder when Veeam make the original backup, so everything on B2 is in subfolders. When Crashplan inevitably stopped offering cheap plans, I started to look around for solutions. Here is what a typical subfolder in the bucket looks like. So that means I need to create a script to use the B2 API to hide or delete the files I want to remove from B2 in order to let B2's lifecycle rule then cleanup the bucket. Well, I don't want that because I want to retain the full backups for a year, but incremental backups for only 32 days on B2, but the local retention policy is different. Support stated that files deleted by the local side would be hidden depending on the sync solution. This would be great, but you cannot use a wildcarded to purge files. keep incremental backup files, *.vib for 32 days.īut I have a limitation from Backblaze that I need to overcome.ī2 buckets have a function called "Lifecycle Management" that you can use to automatically purge files from a bucket.keep full backups files, *.vbk, for 13 months. You can see me talk about it in this thread. This part has, more or less, been working perfectly. Ok, so I am using B2 for the offsite storage of Veeam backups via the native Cloud Sync app from Synology in their units.
